What Is The Difference Between Laser, Lasik & Lasek Eye Surgery?

by | 10 Mar 2020

Despite there being a seemingly endless list of laser treatments to choose from, when it comes down to it, there are actually only two main types you need to know: LASEK and LASIK.

Patients presenting with visual impairments can avail of a large number of refractive procedures. However, LASIK eye surgery has emerged as one of the most popular forms of treatment and the results of LASIK procedures are overwhelmingly successful, with the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery indicating a 96% success rate.

They often do this by taking a treatment such as LASIK and then offering a technology, such as a wavefront measurement, as an optional extra. Such technology that can improve the treatment should be available for everyone and included in the standard cost of the treatment.

But some clinics see it as a way to charge more — and, therefore, it can be a clear sign of what type of clinic you’re dealing with.
